Chrysler 300 · used: 10 questions worth asking before you choose
Selected buying questions about the Chrysler 300, answered from manufacturer documents, owner information and real shopper discussions. Equipment changes by model year and package, so check the exact vehicle with Sam or Ryan.
Which is right for me: 300 Touring, 300S or 300C?
Identify the model year and engine first. The final-year lineup includes V6 choices, an available 5.7-liter V8 in 300S and a 6.4-liter 300C. Earlier uses of these names do not guarantee the same equipment.
Does every Chrysler 300 have a HEMI?
No. Many 300s use the 3.6-liter V6. Some offer a HEMI V8, but the engine should be confirmed from the VIN and factory equipment rather than inferred from wheels, badges or an appearance package.
Is AWD available, or are they all rear-wheel drive?
AWD was available on selected configurations, alongside rear-wheel-drive models. Check the exact year and engine combination when shopping used; the 300 name alone does not establish which drivetrain is fitted.
Can I still get parts and service for a discontinued 300?
Chrysler points owners to its dealers and Mopar for available parts and service. Production ended in 2023; evaluate a used example’s service history and condition instead of treating discontinued production as a diagnosis.
Does it have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?
Later 300s offer Uconnect 4C with an 8.4-inch screen and smartphone integration. Earlier years and replacement radios can differ, so connect your phone in the actual car and check the functions you use.
Is navigation built in, or does it come from my phone?
Factory navigation and phone-projected maps are different features. Check the radio specification and demonstrate routing with and without the phone connected, particularly when comparing two used cars advertised with the same screen size.
Does this 300 have adaptive cruise and automatic emergency braking?
These systems were available equipment, not something to assume from the sedan’s luxury appearance. Check the exact factory feature list and controls, then ask for a demonstration of the installed driver-assistance functions.
Will it help me see traffic when backing out of a space?
Available blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection and parking sensors address different situations. Identify which are installed and functioning; a backup camera by itself does not establish that the other systems are present.
Does the 300 need premium fuel?
Fuel guidance changes with the engine. Use the manual for the actual V6 or HEMI configuration rather than assuming every Chrysler 300 shares one requirement, and include the correct fuel grade in your ownership budget.
What should I inspect on an older Chrysler 300?
Check maintenance records, tires, brakes, suspension and operation of the cabin electronics. Arrange a vehicle inspection and match service needs to its mileage and age; a low odometer reading alone does not establish condition.
